
On February 5, 2025, the Tamaddun Association launched the ""Crafts, Arts and Sports Entrepreneurship Support - CASES Project implemented by Tamadun Association within the Field Support Services Project for the Middle East/ Cowater International, and funded by the Government of Canada project at a ceremony held in the Saida Municipal Palace. The event was sponsored and attended by Mrs. Bahia Hariri, Chairperson of the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development, in cooperation with Sidon Municipality. This initiative is implemented under the Middle East Field Support Services Project by Cowater International and funded by the Canadian International Development Agency.
The launch ceremony gathered a distinguished group of political, social, and economic figures, including Members of Parliament Ali Assir and Dr. Saeed Asmar; representatives of MPs Dr. Osama Saad and Dr. Abdul Rahman Bazzi; Future Movement Secretary-General Ahmed Hariri; representatives of various bishops and religious leaders; the acting Governor of the South (Governor of Nabatieh) Dr. Howayda Al-Turk; heads of municipal unions and municipalities from Sidon, Zahrani, Sahel Al-Zahrani, and neighboring towns; business leaders; civil society representatives; and numerous entrepreneurs.
Dr. Ziad Daher, President of Tamadun, emphasized the initiative’s goal to support 80 entrepreneurs in crafts, arts, and sports through training, capacity building (including planning, financial management, business modeling, and digital marketing), providing material and equipment support, and registering beneficiaries on a digital e-commerce platform. The project also encourages inclusive volunteer initiatives benefiting people with special needs, children, women, youth, and the elderly, with priority given to environmentally friendly and green projects.
Mayor of Saida Dr. Hazem Badii highlighted the project’s importance in creating job opportunities for youth, supporting small craft and artistic enterprises to survive and sustain, and fostering community cooperation to address social challenges and promote development.
The initiative responds to urgent needs amid Lebanon’s difficult economic, social, and security conditions, aiming to empower youth, women, and people with additional needs to maintain their livelihoods, foster innovation, inclusivity, and preserve Lebanese heritage through self-reliance and sustainable development.
